Our neighbours are joining the fight for our environment, waters and communities – In today’s Press: Residents and iwi of a Marlborough Sounds inlet say they will challenge any moves by an Australian company to restart mining operations in the area.
Earlier this year, Sams Creek Gold Ltd, owned by Siren Gold Ltd, was granted an exploration permit for the Queen Charlotte Antimony-Gold Project in the remote and rugged Endeavour Inlet.
Then, after promising fieldwork results revealed “significant gold potential”, the company announced in November that it planned to advance exploration operations and potentially reignite mining activities in the area.
