Excerpt – Siren Gold, the Australian company seeking to mine gold at Sams Creek, was accused of
gambling with Golden Bay’s future at a public meeting held in Tākaka on Sunday. “Siren is not a company we can trust,” said Julie Downard-Wilke, a member of Sams Creek Collective (SCC), the local group formed to oppose the mine. “They’re gamblers. They want to take a gamble on us.”
