Siren Gold has provided an update in an ASX announcement today that it has lodged its Sams Creek Mining Permit Application on 21 March.
Siren’s application is based on a Scoping Study on the known mineral resource of Sams Creek and if granted, the Mining Permit will replace the exploration Permit EP40338. Siren plans to continue exploring to further increase the global resource and is planning additional infill drilling to increase the Indicated resource category whilst the mining permit application is being considered by NZPAM.

Siren commented: “The findings from the Scoping Study drive home the regional significance of the project and provide additional confidence that both an open pit and an underground operation are potentially financially viable. The Study supports the Sams Creek mining permit application to NZPAM, and at the same time gives us the confidence to continue our exploration and infill drilling programs.”
Sams Creek Collective has been expecting this confirmation that the application has been lodged and will continue to oppose a gold mining operation working with toxic chemicals at the head of our waterways, which are the lifeblood of our region.
Join our mailing list, get involved, take action and help us say no to this proposed mine. Accidents do happen despite best intentions and Golden Bay does not want to be known as ‘regionally significant’ in future decades for water pollution and environmental damage caused by mining waste accidents.

We know theres more profit in bottled water but think of the animals or yr kids kids before assets that will last a quarter lifetime, its inhumane , are your bosses even human?
Shane Jones is the Minister of Petrolium and Minerals – permits
Chris Bishop is the Minister of Infastructure..
Both are the Ministers to Fast Track NZ (with Minister of Infastructure as primary decision maker working together with Minister for Regional and Development – Shane Jones) with expert panels including a Covenor electing a 4 person panel for each application (1 panel being a regional Authority)
Ex Environmental Court Judge Jane Borthwick elected as Panel Covenor (and Helen Aitkins and Jeniffer Caldwell associate Covenors) one of Judge Janes practice areas is Freshwater Management and Helen Aitkins, Wairoa Aotearoa Water NZ Board (Water NZ).
NZ Petrolium and Minerals manages pre lodgement consultation for mining under the fast track processes.(Shane Jones)
Mining permits still needs Resource Consents .
Encourage you all to firstly write to Chris Bishop… then Judge Jane and Shane Jones.. with reasonable objections ( he’s in their twice. Tricky) also more importantly regional RMA TDC with reasonable objections.
Many thanks and best of luck 💚
Kirsty
Thanks Kirsty
SCC members have done a ton of writing to these and other MPs and Ministers, so now it’s a matter of others doing the same to back up those efforts and adding their voice. Let’s keep letting them know how our community feels about this unwanted mining proposal. Will check with others whether they’ve included those judges – many thanks!
We’re onto NZPM and are following Siren’s previous and latest permit applications to that govt. body, it’s publicly searchable so that is available too to view for anyone in the community interested in researching what has been submitted.
Makes me so mad, what they would sacrifice for a bit of money.
